Dubai has no shortage of businesses offering translation, but only a smaller set are licensed by the UAE Ministry of Justice to issue certified translations that courts, government departments and banks will actually accept. Choosing the wrong one means paying twice: once for a translation that gets rejected, and again for the certified version you needed from the start.
Confirm Ministry of Justice licensing
This is the single check that matters most. A licensed office stamps and signs each translation, and that stamp is what Dubai Courts, the Land Department, the Rental Disputes Settlement Centre and immigration are actually looking for. A translation from an unlicensed provider, however fluent, does not carry that authority and will be turned away.
Ask whether they handle your specific document type
Legal, medical, technical and personal documents each use different terminology, and a court judgment needs a different register from a birth certificate. A good office will tell you directly whether they regularly handle your type of document rather than accepting anything that comes in.
Check language coverage
Arabic–English is the core pairing for almost every UAE authority, but if your document originates in another language, confirm the office can certify that pairing too. Ask about turnaround before you commit
A realistic office will give you a specific timeline rather than a vague promise. Documents under ten pages are typically ready the same day, and 20 to 30 pages can usually be turned around within a day when the matter is urgent. Larger volumes should come with a firm delivery date before work starts, not an estimate that slips.
Check whether attestation is handled in the same place
If your document also needs attestation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or an embassy, doing both the attestation and the translation with one provider avoids the errors that happen at the handoff between two separate offices.
