Driving licence translation in Dubai

Driving licences and vehicle documents, translated and stamped

If you are exchanging a foreign driving licence for a UAE licence, or need your UAE licence recognised abroad, the authority may ask for a certified translation. Whether it does depends on the country that issued the licence.

Mundo is a legal translation office approved by the UAE Ministry of Justice. Licences are translated by Ahmed Muhammad Sabar, a legal translator registered with the Ministry of Justice since 2008 (registration no. 302), and every translation carries the Ministry of Justice stamp.

Exchanging a foreign licence in Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) decides, country by country, whether a licence can be exchanged and whether it needs a translation. Licences from many countries need none; some need a legalised translation, and some must be translated by the embassy or consulate of the country that issued them. Check the RTA table for your country first. If yours needs a legalised translation, send it to us; if it has to come from the embassy, we tell you so rather than prepare a translation that will not be accepted.

Using a UAE licence abroad

Some countries ask for a translation of a UAE driving licence, or of a letter confirming your driving history, when you move there or rent a car. We translate both into the language that country needs, and where the authority abroad also wants attestation, we tell you the route.

What we need from you

A clear photograph or scan of both sides of the licence, and a copy of your passport so your name is spelled the same way in the translation as in your other documents.

How it works

  1. Send us the document. A clear photograph or scan on WhatsApp or by email is enough to start.
  2. Tell us where it is going. The receiving authority decides whether attestation is also needed.
  3. We confirm the cost and the delivery date. A fixed quote and a realistic date before anything begins.
  4. We translate, review and stamp. Names, numbers and dates are checked against the original.
  5. You collect, or we send it. The stamped translation is ready to submit.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a translation to exchange my licence?

It depends on the country that issued it. The RTA publishes a table showing, for each country, whether the licence needs a translation, and many do not. Tell us the issuing country and we confirm what you need.

Can you translate both sides of the licence?

Yes. Both sides are translated, including categories, issue and expiry dates, restrictions and stamps.

How long does it take?

A driving licence is a short document and is usually translated and stamped the same day.

Do you need the original licence?

No. A clear photograph or scan of both sides is enough for the translation.

Do you translate vehicle registration and insurance documents?

Yes. We translate vehicle registration cards, sale and transfer documents, insurance papers and police accident reports.
